Vice Chair; Board Member | Council of American Jewish Museums

2014 - Present

Provide programmatic and strategic leadership for national professional organization.

 

Accomplishments: Co-Chair for two national conferences serving over 200 people (Baltimore, MD 2014; Washington, DC, 2018). Vision and mission attracting new members. 

 

Responsibilities: Shape outreach and membership strategy; organizational identity and mission. Develop content for conferences and workshops. Contribute to fundraising efforts. 

Curator | Jewish Historical Society of Greater Washington

2014 - 2015

Designed and tested content for core exhibition of future Jewish museum.

 

Accomplishments: Six major grants including $40,000 NEH Planning Grant. Raised $20,000, managed PR, and oversaw technical aspects of historic mural rescue. Designed and implemented content testing through focus groups and surveys of 200+ participants. 

 

Responsibilities: Curated 5,000 sq ft core museum experience. Conceived and directed publications and public events. Grant writing and reporting. Biweekly articles; PR materials. Aligned collecting with museum vision. Weekly lectures, symposia, and tour designs. 

Assistant Curator | Yeshiva University Museum

2009 - 2013

Curated 8 exhibitions annually, oversaw all production, and managed online activity.

 

Accomplishments: Expanded audience engagement through programs. Instituted practices elevating quality while increasing efficiency.Three NEH Grants. Social-media identity and strategy engaging tens-of-thousands of new constituents.

 

Responsibilities: Exhibition concepts, texts, articles, and grant proposals. Oversaw up to 10 staff including content experts, interns, designers, and vendors. Evaluated artists’ and exhibition proposals. Produced interactives and films. Facilitated institutional partnerships.

Director of Exhibitions and Collections | National Building Museum

2016 - 2020

Oversaw exhibitions, collections, project management, budgeting, and scheduling.

 

Accomplishments: Multi-year plan to enhance care, raise funds and expand access to 425,000-object collection and overhaul collections and gallery procedures. Management and budget tracking measures reducing costs, shortening production and elevating exhibit quality. 25 percent growth in collection. Multiple major federal grants.

 

Responsibilities: Directed content, design, construction, and installation for seven multi- year exhibitions annually. Oversaw 36,000 sq ft of gallery, workshop, and storage spaces. Budgets up to $2 million, schedules, contracts, and agreements. Supervise four staff, and contractors. Guided collections operations and expand access. Grants and marketing materials.

2011 - Present

Provide strategic planning, project leadership, content development, and curatorial guidance for artists and cultural organizations.

 

Accomplishments: Lead master planning for Jewish Museum if Florida - Florida International University (Miami, FL). Art Director, Culturehouse (Washington, DC). Concept, content, and fundraising for national scrap recycling exhibition at Jewish Museum of Maryland (Baltimore, MD) including over $225,000 in federal grants. Core experience for 3,000 sq ft historic building for Jewish History Museum (Tucson,AZ). Co-founder of the Viral Art Project.

 

Responsibilities: Strategic and project planning. Proposals and summaries, grants, exhibition materials, and media materials. Direct immersive installations and media production. Primary and secondary research, evaluation, and interviewing. Educational programs, conferences, and tours. Secure exhibition and project collaborators and spaces.
